When I need an escape from the doldrums of life or after a stretch of really heavy reading material, Jennifer Crusie is one of the authors I turn to. She never fails to provide exactly what I need – a sweet, fun, romantic story. So what if the plot is a bit unbelievable. Isn’t that the point of escapism? The Cinderella Deal is not Crusie’s best effort. The plot, though simple, was a little more contrived than usual, it lacked the mystery element that many of Crusie’s best novels have, and it was too short. After a big build up, the end seemed a bit rushed and Daisy and Linc’s potential problems resolved too easily. Like Daisy’s confidant, Julia, I was concerned that the wonderful, colorful heroine was losing too much of herself. I have a feeling that after the events of the book, she and Linc are going to be dealing with their issues often. Still, it was fun and quick and didn’t take a lot of thought on my part to appreciate it.
