Review: Girl Waits with Gun

Girl Waits with Gun
Girl Waits with Gun by Amy Stewart

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

One of my librarian friends recommended Girl Waits with Gun to me and I’m so glad that she did. It is a fun read. So fun, in fact, it is hard to believe that it is based on actual events. The formidable Constance Kopp and her sisters were real people and Henry Kaufman really did crash their buggy with his car then proceed to harass and threaten them. This is a fictionalized account of what life was like for the Kopp sisters during the years of 1914-1915. Stewart drew each of the sisters with such delightful detail that I hope that her characterizations were accurate and that her version of them is how they really were. The novel is a rollicking combination of humor, mystery, and history and I cannot wait to pick up the next installment, Lady Cop Makes Trouble.
